Example poem from my book:
My wish
I saw your photo on a stand
And my heart yearns for you to live,
But that’s not what happened.
All treatments, all the experiments,
And all the suffering cannot
Stop this yearning for you to live,
But hope is gone and you are dead
And only God can brought you back
And He will in His time—not ours.
I grieve with no tears—
Am I a man or a machine?—
Why do I not shed tears for you?
Others have on a daily basis,
But my heart is numb—even blind.
When I do cry for you,
Let it be known that it’s for a reason
And that reason is love for you.
My wish is to see you again
And cherish every moment I have
With family and friends and you.
I can’t bring you back here,
But I can live my life abundantly
In your honor;
For your life is not vain
There’s a new beginning after death
And you’ll live cause He lives.
Eventually, I’ll cry,
But not today—maybe tomorrow.
I’ll cry with joy when I see you again.
